Programs & Services: Critiquing Groups Do you have a critiquing group that is accepting new members? Email us with the details. Beaumont The Beaumont Writers Group meets at 7:00pm on the third Tuesday evening of the month at the Beaumont Library. All genres are welcome. Calgary A Calgary-based critiquing group meets on the first and third Thursday of every month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Indigo Signal Hill (5570 Signal Hill Centre SW). This group is currently FULL. The WGA Calgary Prose Writers Group meets every two weeks. Run by WGA Lifetime member Lyn Thompson, this group has been meeting for over 13 years. For more information, phone Lyn at 403-474-3231. The WGA Calgary Teen Writing Group (for ages 15-18) meets monthly during the school year, facilitated by WGA Youth Mentor Sarah Ivany. Edmonton The Edmonton Speculative Fiction Writers Group (sometimes called The Cult of Pain) meets monthly. This is a critiquing group focusing exclusively on science fiction, fantasy (all subgenres), including both YA and adult. We share each others triumphs and set-backs, and our discussions are often quirky, yet exhilarating. Any writer of speculative fiction may apply, but space may be limited as dates and locations of meetings vary. Please contact Barb Galler-Smith at 780-475-1826 for more information. The WGA Edmonton Teen Writing Group (for ages 15-18) meets monthly during the school year, facilitated by WGA Youth Mentor Erinne Sevigny. Grande Prairie On the last Tuesday of every month at 7 PM, the Cygnets Writing Group meets on the lower floor of the Grande Prairie Public Library. This is an informal group of writers of ALL genres to get together and share information on markets and to critique each others work. You do not have to be a member of WGA to attend, there is no fee involved, and no obligation. If you simply want to know more about what they do, just show up, they'll be pleased to have you!
Red Deer The Red Deer and Area Writing Group known as “Writers’ Ink” is a group of adults who meet weekly to share and critique one another’s writing.
