About The Writers Guild of Alberta: Giving

The Writers Guild of Alberta offers many ways for interested individuals and corporations to support our organization and ensure that the word of the Writers Guild of Alberta can continue on an annual basis.

Donations
The Writers Guild of Alberta is a registered charitable organization. Any cash donation over $10 will receive a tax receipt and acknowledgment on the Donors and Sponsors page of WestWord.

Annual Giving
If you would like to make your donation an annual gift instead of it being one-time only, this can be arranged through our office.

Corporate Sponsorship
We have many roles for corporate sponsorship in our organization but they are especially vital to the health of a number of our larger programs including the Alberta Literary Awards, Youth Programs, and our AGM & Conference.

In-Kind Donations
Many corporations prefer to donate their products and/or services in lieu of cash. Any and all in-kind donations are appreciated but there are certain products that are of particular value to us - any type of media advertising, any technological gifts, and any gift certificates that can be used as door prizes or for raffles at our events.

Bequests
A legacy gift can be a great way to memorialize yourself or someone else who has a connection to the writing community. You can specify a specific program or area you would like your bequest to be used for or make your gift "unrestricted" so as to have it used wherever the need is greatest. You can make a bequest that is specific (ie. part of your will), residual (ie. to be paid only after after all other beneficiaries - including debts, taxes, and other expenses - have been paid), or contingent (ie. honoured only if a named beneficiary predeceases you.)

Contact the WGA's Edmonton office for more information on any of these options for giving. Thank you in advance for your support of our organization and the work we do on behalf of the writers of Alberta.
