Programs & Services: inkPulse: A Writing Camp for Teens

2011 Camps

What is inkPulse?

Continuing the Writers Guild of Alberta’s 15 year tradition of bringing you writing focused camps for youth (first as YouthWrite and now as inkPulse) we present an exciting and dynamic writing day camp for teens!

At inkPulse, we tap into your imagination through creation, collaboration and diversity! Talented Canadian artists join forces to bring you exciting lessons incorporating movement, sound, performance and writing exercises, all designed to inspire text creation. The days are jam-packed. You will work individually, in small groups and with the entire ensemble; classes are taught by individual instructors, pairs of teachers and the whole teaching team.

A Day at inkPulse!

Our day runs from 10am-5pm (except Edmonton which runs 9am-4pm).  Friday we have an extended day in order to celebrate the week with a wrap up event which runs from 5-7pm (for all camps) where participants present their work to their family and friends.

Each day, we begin with a warm-up, designed not only to prepare you vocally and physically for the work, but also to jump start your imagination and get your creativity flowing.

Next, you will take part in a group writing activity, a lesson from one of our instructors, and then lunch. During the afternoon, you’ll have journaling time, take another great class with our second instructor and attend a workshop hosted by a guest writer. Busy? You betcha! Fun? Oh yeah!

Our goal is to give you the opportunity to express yourself freely while you connect with other creative teens and meet brilliant Canadian artists and we want to squeeze the most out of every moment.
